Simple Cloth Diapering: A Review of BumGenius!
Cloth Diapers by Elisa Carey
I always said I would NEVER use cloth diapers. The
whole idea was just icky to me, to put it mildly. I could not stomach the
idea of swishing diapers in the toilet, messing with folds and pins, etc. So
when we were expecting our first child, and my
husband suggested cloth diapering to save money, I
told him I really wasn't interested. My thoughts began to change, though,
when a friend introduced me to "all-in-one" cloth diapers. I started doing
some research online, and discovered that cloth diapers have come a long way
since my
mom diapered us with flats, pins, and plastic
pants. I was particularly interested in the idea of "pocket diapers"--a 2
piece diaper with a waterproof outer layer, fleece or suedecloth inner
layer, and a pocket in between for stuffing an absorbent insert, often made
of microfiber or hemp.

The first question I was asked when I mentioned to family members that I
might switch to cloth diapers, was "what will you do with dirty ones
when you're out?" Since then, I've found a few solutions to this
problem, but my very favorite (and what I personally use) is the
Wonderbag. This water-proof and wickless pouch has two layers that snap
together: one to hold soiled diapers, one to hold clean ones (and wipes, if
you like). The dirty one can easily be tossed in the wash later. The most
fun part?
Happy Tushies custom makes 'em with whichever of their zillion (only a
slight exaggeration) fabrics you pick out. With summer coming up, I might
get a second one made one to hold wet bathing suits this summer.

Product Review: Kissaluvs Fitted Cloth Diapers
by
I became a cloth diapering convert after my introduction to
bumGenius! 2.0 One Sized Pocket Diapers.
They were the
perfect
pocket diaper and had everything that I needed. But I still found myself
interested in other types of diapers. Specifically, I was looking for a
cloth diaper that would allow my
daughter
to really feel wetness, as I had read that this could conceivably translate
into early potty learning. In addition, I liked the idea of letting my
daughter
roam the
house
in just a diaper and a t-shirt and being able to quickly feel when she was
wet and change her promptly. So, I decided to try
Kissaluvs Fitted Cloth Diapers.
